About the artist
Helena Fourie (Groenewald) obtained her B.A. Fine Art at the University of Pretoria in 1987 under Prof. N.O. Roos and other artists like Gunter van der Reiss, John Clarke and Judith Mason.
Inspired by her absolute passion for nature she devoted herself to the painting of wildlife, and applying it in an individual and idiosyncratic style. Fourie’s art reflect both her passion and concern for the subject matter. In order to further her knowledge of wildlife, Fourie worked as volunteer at Klipkop Nature Reserve between 2000 and 2002. Klipkop served as rehabilitation centre for wild, injured animals and birds. The aim of the conservancy was to reintroduce wild animals to their natural habitat after rehabilitation.
Fourie works in a variety of mediums with a preference for Oil and Scraperboard.
